Blessings all!
My husband and I are of the most blessed and fortunate....we are leaving July 1st to spend 14 days in Jamaica with a dear friend of ours who was born and raised in Kingston. I've been doing some reading and was perplexed to find that Jamaican ATMs don't accept American ATM cards?....I was wondering if this is true, and if so, what are some suggestions for a couple that does not keep credit cards....Any suggestions or help would be much appreciated!!!
Jah bless, guide, and protect!
Much respect to all!!!
Nikki

Re: Jamaican ATM
Thu, June 21, 2007 - 8:53 AMbring cash -- it is a "third world country" - exchange it in a jamaican bank, NOT at the airport, where you will get a better rate of exchange. use cash. US dollars are ok sometimes too, but use JA $$ for ease.

Re: Jamaican ATM
Thu, June 21, 2007 - 12:58 PMmost ATMs will accept most US debit cards
NCB and Scotiabank will almost always work- some of the other banks like RBTT can be maybe-ish depending on what networks your ATM is on
many places the ATM will give you a choice of US$ or J$ if you are using a US card
Many many places also accept credit cards, whether in town or in the country -

Re: Jamaican ATM
Wed, July 4, 2007 - 11:56 PMHave an amazing time! Use the Jamaican dollars as much as possible as many places (like taxi's) don't calculate in your favor- This might save you a few extra dollars.
