One Love...
I am looking for a recipe for Roots Tonic - as traditional as I can get - which contains ingredients I can find in the US. Or, alternatively, for a website or personal address of someone who makes it that I can buy some from. Any help/advice is greatly apprecialoved.

Re: Roots Tonic
Sun, November 13, 2005 - 8:57 PMI have two different brands on my shelf at home. I think the ingredients are written on them. Unfortunetly I'm driving cross country right now to do some hurricane relief in Florida.. So will probably be some weeks before I can check them again.. But if your still looking by then I'll send it.... Cheers -

Re: Roots Tonic
Mon, December 26, 2005 - 9:42 PM(makes 5 gallons)
1/4-1/2 lb organic herbs- burdock, dandelion, saparilla, gotu kola, gingko, licorice root, pau d'arco, and any other blood cleanser
Organic Ginger Root
Organic Cinnamon
Little Organic Allspice
8 lbs raw sugar or organic honey
1 packet yeast
5 gallons of filtered water
Soak herbs in 4 gallons of the water in a big pot. Don't boil, but close. Put herbs in a cloth sack & soak for 3-7 days, keeping a lookout for mold. (the longer the stronger) Remove sack from water. In the 5th gallon mix in sugar or honey, then yeast, then pour this into the large pot.Put a fermentation lock on top (I'm not sure where to get 1 of these). Leave for 7-12 days, until it stops bubbling. Re-strain with a stocking or something similar. Pour into 5 separate gallon jugs & let sit for a few days before I-sumption.
Give thanks to JAH for the guidance! -
